Located at a privately owned airport in Eastern Europe, we provided an exclusive light hangar de aviones for an aero club client. The client owns a number of single-engine sport aircraft and needed a semi-permanent hangar that could be erected quickly, was structurally stable and protected from wind and moisture.

A high-strength aluminum frame aircraft hangar canopy was selected. The exterior of the hangar is covered with PVC fireproof fabric and metal enclosure panels. The overall size is customized according to the customer’s aircraft type, and is equipped with a sliding door system to facilitate the free access of aircraft.

The client had clear requirements for this aircraft hangar project. They wanted a hangar that could be erected quickly and with a flexible footprint that would not interfere with the existing runway structure.

At the same time, the hangar had to be able to cope with the cold and windy weather of the local winter. In terms of space, it needed to accommodate more than one light fixed-wing aircraft with some maintenance equipment. The client also required the hangar to have an aesthetically pleasing appearance that would harmonize with the overall airport environment. In addition, the hangar had to be securely gated and available for long-term use.

Solución Gaxtent

Gaxtent provided a comprehensive solution for the customer’s needs.

Structural design: We used the classic A-frame structure made of aluminum. The main beams are wind-resistant up to 120 km/h and are designed for all-weather use.

Wall system: The perimeter of the aircraft hangar is insulated with metal sandwich panels, which greatly increase wind and heat resistance. The roof is covered with 850 g/m2 PVC flame retardant fabric to ensure good lighting and safety.

Access: The aircraft hangar is equipped with a large sliding door system that can accommodate aircraft with a wingspan of up to 10 meters.

Foundation: For the foundation, we used a combination of helical anchors and concrete foundations. This ensures structural stability and saves construction time.

Add-on packages: We reserved the wiring for the lighting system and the design of the ventilation windows. These designs support the client’s subsequent installation of solar panels and security monitoring systems.

Client Feedback 

Upon completion of the project, the client spoke highly of our solution. They commented, “Gaxtent’s solution is more flexible and cost-effective than traditional steel structures.”

The client also highlighted, “The whole erection process took only two weeks, the aircraft hangar structure is solid and the visual effect is very modern and clean, which is very much in line with our expectations.”

Project Summary
