30-Meter Clear Span Tent for Exhibition

Project Overview
This project involves a 30-meter clear span tent for exhibition, with Gaxtent responsible for both structural design and factory manufacturing. The client planned a large-scale themed exhibition for 15 days in a city square, requiring a spacious, visually unobstructed, and structurally sound temporary exhibition space.
From the site environment perspective, the project is located in an open public area with high foot traffic, demanding high standards of structural safety and overall aesthetics. The client specifically emphasized that the tent’s interior must be column-free to ensure more flexible booth layout and facilitate the planning of the stage, lighting, and brand display areas.
As a professional clear span tent manufacturer, Gaxtent provided the client with complete structural solutions and technical support services. All main structures of the tent were manufactured in the factory, and the client organized their own construction team to erect the tent on-site based on the technical drawings and installation instructions provided by Gaxtent.
Tent Parameters for this Project:
- Net Span: 30 meters
- Length: Customized according to site requirements
- Side Height: Customizable (standard 4-6 meters)
- Main Structure: High-strength aluminum alloy frame
- Covering Material: Double-sided PVC coated tarpaulin
Indoor Space Utilization: 100% The column-free design allows for a completely open space, meeting the high spatial freedom requirements of large-scale exhibitions.
Client Requirements
During initial communication, the client was very direct, focusing more on the actual usability than on mere specifications.
1. The space must be completely open
The client clearly stated that the exhibition area needs to be divided into multiple zones, including standard booths, brand display areas, and interactive experience areas. Columns in the middle would not only obstruct the view but also disrupt visitor flow, significantly impacting the overall effect. Therefore, they desired a completely column-free interior space with flexible layout.
2. The structure must be stable and safe
With a large number of visitors expected daily during the event, safety is paramount. The client is particularly concerned about wind resistance and overall stability, hoping for a reliable structure that can be used safely even in changing weather conditions.
3. Reasonable Budget
The client also mentioned that they did not want costs to be inflated by intermediaries. They preferred to work directly with the factory to keep the budget within a reasonable range while ensuring quality.
4. Easy Construction
Since the on-site construction team was arranged by the client, they wanted the structural design to be as standardized as possible, with a clear installation logic and not overly complex. Ideally, complete drawings and technical support should be provided so that the on-site team could smoothly complete the assembly according to the process.
Gaxtent Clear Span Tent Solution
1. For the “Completely Open Space” Need
During the design phase, we first conducted a structural assessment based on the client’s core requirement of “no internal columns.”
For exhibition projects, the integrity of the space directly affects the efficiency of booth layout and visitor flow planning. Using a traditional structure with internal columns would not only reduce usable area but also affect visual continuity. Therefore, we recommended a 30-meter clear span aluminum alloy truss structure system to the client.
This structure, through stress-distribution design and node reinforcement calculations, achieves a large span without internal supports, meeting the needs of open space while ensuring overall stability.
This solution precisely addresses several key issues raised by the client: 100% usable internal space; booth layout unaffected by structural interference; free suspension of stage, lighting, and truss systems; a more open and professional overall visual experience.
Compared to traditional steel structure temporary buildings or tent systems with supporting columns, this clear-span structure is more suitable for medium to large-scale exhibitions.
2. Regarding “Structural Safety and Stability” Requirements
The client repeatedly emphasized safety issues during communication, especially wind resistance and structural stability in high-traffic environments.
Based on the site conditions, we conducted load calculations during the design phase and selected a high-strength aluminum alloy main frame system. Compared to ordinary lightweight structures, this structure has a higher strength-to-weight ratio, ensuring stability while facilitating transportation and on-site installation.
All core components are manufactured in Gaxtent’s own factory, and key connectors are manufactured using precision equipment to ensure matching accuracy between components and avoid structural hazards caused by on-site assembly errors. The tent fabric is made of double-sided PVC knife-coated fabric, possessing:
- Good waterproof performance
- Meets flame retardant standards
- Resistant to UV aging
- Suitable for long-term outdoor use.
This “design calculation + standardized factory production” model makes structural safety more controllable and avoids the instability caused by temporary processing.
At the same time, due to direct connection with factory production, the client effectively controls the overall budget while ensuring quality.
3. For the need for “self-organized construction”
Considering that the client will arrange their own construction team for this project, we particularly emphasized the operability of the structure’s installation during the design phase.
This 30-meter clear span tent adopts a modular design, with all components prefabricated to standard dimensions and clear connection nodes. The overall installation logic follows the process of “main frame – crossbeams – roof – side walls,” with clear structural steps reducing on-site complexity.
We provided the client with complete technical support materials, including:
- Detailed structural installation drawings
- Foundation pre-embedding and anchoring suggestions
- Installation process instructions
- Remote technical guidance support
For teams with construction experience, assembly can be completed smoothly by following the standard process.
By providing technical guidance in advance, we helped our clients reduce construction risks and avoid structural instability issues caused by improper installation.
4. Flexible Customization and OEM/ODM Support
In addition to the 30-meter span solution presented here, Gaxtent can provide the following options to meet different project needs:
- Span specifications ranging from 3 meters to 60 meters and above
- Customization with different side heights and roof types
- Enclosure options such as glass curtain walls and ABS wall panels
- Customized brand logos
- OEM/ODM cooperation support
For event management or rental companies, we can also provide mass production solutions to help them establish a standardized inventory system.
Client Feedback
“This 30-meter column-free design truly solved a lot of problems for us. There was absolutely no structural interference inside, allowing for complete freedom in booth arrangement, and the main aisle could be built as planned. The overall sense of space was even more open than we had anticipated. After the on-site effect was revealed, many exhibitors said it didn’t resemble a traditional event tent, but rather a temporary exhibition hall, significantly elevating the overall level.”
“We actually organized our own installation team, but the drawings and technical guidance you provided were very clear, and communication was timely, so the entire process was controllable. During the event, there was a significant flow of people, and the structure performed very stably, with no loosening or deformation. Furthermore, working directly with the factory meant the budget was much more reasonable than going through intermediaries, which we are very satisfied with.”
