This project is a custom-designed polygonal aluminum alloy tent structure built by Gaxtent for a client.  Erected on an open area within the factory grounds, it serves as a temporary functional building to meet the client’s needs for temporary reception, events, and multi-functional use. The overall structure features a polygonal design, which is more visually striking than traditional rectangular tents, effectively enhancing the overall image of the site while also ensuring practicality and efficient space utilization.

The client required a temporary functional space within the factory grounds that could be quickly erected, have a clean and uniform appearance, and provide basic protection against wind and rain.  

The space was needed for:

• Temporary reception of visiting clients
• Corporate events or internal meetings
• Temporary display or functional area
• Temporary supporting space during construction or project cycles

The client also specified the following requirements for the tent:

• Simple and elegant appearance, consistent with the company image
• High space utilization with flexible interior layout
• Short construction period, without affecting normal production
• Dismountable and reusable for future use, offering good cost-effectiveness

Structural Solution

To address the client’s requirements for structural safety, stability, and long-term reusability, Gaxtent selected 6061-T6 high-strength aluminum alloy profiles for the main structure of the tent. This material is widely used in industrial buildings, exhibition tents, and outdoor engineering structures, possessing excellent overall mechanical properties.

6061-T6 aluminum alloy features high strength, corrosion resistance, and light weight. While ensuring structural stability, it significantly reduces the overall weight, facilitating rapid transportation and on-site installation. Compared to ordinary steel structure tents, under the same span conditions, the aluminum alloy structure can reduce the overall weight by approximately 40%-50%, effectively improving construction efficiency and reducing foundation requirements. The polygonal structure offers a more balanced distribution of forces, effectively dispersing wind loads and roof pressure. It is suitable for various site environments, including open factory areas and paved surfaces.  Furthermore, its distinctive appearance meets clients’ needs for “temporary buildings to also have a strong image.”

Enclosure System

This project’s tent enclosure system uses double-coated PVC tarpaulin, with a standard weight of 650–850g/㎡. It possesses excellent tensile strength and weather resistance, suitable for daily outdoor use. The tarpaulin provides basic waterproofing and UV protection, maintaining stable performance in rainy and strong sunlight conditions.

The side walls are equipped with arched transparent windows, providing natural lighting while maintaining privacy and comfort within the interior space, preventing a stuffy and oppressive feeling during prolonged use. For future needs, the enclosure system can be upgraded to fully transparent tarpaulin, thickened insulated tarpaulin, or an inner insulation layer, adapting to different seasons and usage periods.

Functional Adaptability

Considering the client’s need for flexibility in the later use of the tent, Gaxtent pre-designed for lighting, power wiring, and air conditioning installation during the design phase, avoiding the need for later modifications that could affect the structure. The interior of the tent can be flexibly partitioned according to actual use, for example, into reception areas, meeting areas, or temporary office spaces.

In terms of space planning, the polygonal structure is more conducive to creating a relatively regular usable area, resulting in higher internal utilization efficiency, making it easy to arrange tables, chairs, display racks, or temporary partitions, meeting the functional adjustment needs of different activity stages.

Delivery and Service

This project utilizes Gaxtent’s standardized modular production system. Structural components are prefabricated and quality-checked in the factory, requiring only assembly on-site. Compared to traditional temporary building construction methods, the overall installation period can be shortened by more than 50%, allowing for construction without affecting the client’s normal production and operations.

The tent structure supports later disassembly, relocation, and expansion. The aluminum alloy frame has excellent durability, and under normal use and maintenance conditions, the structure has a service life of more than 10 years.

Gaxtent also provides complete structural drawings, installation instructions, and technical support to help clients achieve a long-term, stable, and sustainable return on investment during later use.
